Abdominoplasty: Full and Mini Tummy Tucks

Abdominoplasty surgery, also known as a tummy tuck, is a procedure to remove excess fat and skin from the abdomen. In most cases, abdominoplasty surgery can restore weakened or separated muscles in your abdominal wall creating a smoother and firmer stomach.

A majority of abdominoplasty patients have either had children or lost large amounts of weight, however, even individuals of otherwise normal body weight and proportion can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging.

Regardless of the reason for tummy tuck surgery, both men and women benefit from the results which include: tightening of abdominal muscles, reduction of excess skin, and removal of excess pockets around the belly.

Complete or Full Abdominoplasty

For patients requiring maximum correction, a full abdominoplasty may be the best procedure for you. In this procedure, Dr. Lesesne will make a low incision your abdomen from hipbone to hipbone. The incision is made along the pubic area and can be easily concealed. Once the incision is made, Dr. Lesesne can manipulate and contour the skin, tissue, and muscle as needed. Drainage tubes may be placed under your skin and these will be removed in a few days as Dr. Lesesne sees fit.

Partial or Mini Abdominoplasty

Depending on the complexity of your needs, partial or mini-abdominoplasties are a good option for men or women whose fat deposits are located below the navel. Mini-abdominoplasty procedures are performed with a shorter, less noticable incision along the pubic region. This modified version of the tummy tuck allows Dr. Lesesne to tighten stomach muscles and remove excess skin on the lower abdomen with less recovery time than a complete or full abdominoplasty.

Dr. Lesesne recommends partial-abdominoplasty procedures to patients who want to tighten the abdominal area below the belly button and have excess stomach skin and/or fat localized in the lower part of the abdomen.

Fat-removal procedures such as liposuction can be used in conjunction with full or mini abdominoplasty procedures to further contour the area.
