Anesthesia

We work exclusively with senior, highly experienced, board-certified anesthesiologists with impeccable records.

We find that using the smallest amount of anesthesia necessary to provide a comfortable, non-anxiety and pain free experience best serves our patients. We almost exclusively use intravenous (IV) sedation - also known as monitored anesthesia care (MAC) - which is administered solely by our board-certified anesthesiologist.

Gas or general anesthesia is almost never required. As a result, after surgery our patients have control of their reflexes and are able to walk, even after more extensive procedures.

We are proud to have never had an intra-operative complication.

MAC Sedation

The 3 fundamental elements and purposes of a conscious MAC sedation are: safety, control of patient anxiety, and pain control. Patients undergoing conscious sedation are able to respond to orders appropriately and to protect airways. MAC sedation also allows patients to rest comfortably after surgery and to be discharged more quickly.

Local Anesthesia

Many of our patients - particularly those having mini procedures - find that their surgery can be done under regional - or local - anesthesia and oral medication. Medication is taken orally pre-operatively then Novocain is injected. The medication takes affect almost immediately and lasts up to 8 hours. This not only allows for a more rapid recovery, it also keeps the patient’s costs lower.

Our Anesthesiologist

Dr. James O’Neill is a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist who has safely administered anesthesia to over 40,000 patients. Dr. O’Neill chaired the Department of Anesthesiology at Long Island’s Southside Hospital and is now a staff anesthesiologist at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortland Manor, as well as in private practice.
