Injectable treatments are a combination of dermal fillers and protein serums that are used to improve fine lines and wrinkles. Some injectables sculpt anatomical areas of the face creating contour and volume, while others prevent lines due to muscle contractions.

Wrinkle smoothing injections include:

Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are some of the best known types of botulinum toxin type A injections. These injections block muscular nerve signals, which then weakens the muscle so it can’t contract. The end result is diminished unwanted facial wrinkles. Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® treatments are an easy way to enhance your appearance with no downtime. Simple and almost painless, they are performed with very small injections into facial muscles that cause the muscles to relax and wrinkles to fade. The injections are very precise and affect only a few muscles of the face. The result is a relaxed and rested appearance within a matter of days by erasing unwanted lines and facial wrinkles.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to create contour and volume. They are injected into the desired area with a very fine needle and produce immediate, visible results. Treatment time for injectable fillers is approximately 30 minutes with a topical anesthetic to reduce any discomfort. While all our injectable procedures are generally well-tolerated, patients are asked to avoid vitamin E, and anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and aspirin 7 days prior to treatment to reduce the risk of swelling and bruising.

Restylane® and Juvederm® are FDA approved hyaluronic acid fillers consisting of a long-lasting gel that lifts and adds volume to the areas being treated. These treatments are particularly good with “static” wrinkles, wrinkles which are present even when the face is relaxed, as well as lip augmentation, smile lines, and deep folds. The effects generally last from 6 to 9 months.

Radiesse® is a unique filler that is particularly well suited for augmenting the natural contours of the facial bones, such as the cheeks and jawline. It is made of calcium hydroxylapatite—the same basic substance found naturally in teeth and bones. Radiesse® also stimulates production of your own collagen and causes a smooth and natural improvement in wrinkles that can last for 2 years. Radiesse® can only be injected deep into the skin along the bone of the jaw or cheeks adding facial contour. Treatment time is 30 minutes

Sculptra® works differently than other fillers like Restylane® and Juvederm®. Rather than filling the desired area with a gel formula of hyaluronic acid, Sculptra® stimulates your body to produce its own collagen. Sculptra® works more gradually than other fillers: it can take up to 3 treatments to achieve desired results. The results, however, last up to two years.

Voluma® is an instant, non-surgical solution that adds volume and contour to your face. Consisting of hyaluronic acid, Voluma® is injected into the mid-face, particularly around the cheekbones to create volume and lift. Treatment time is usually 30 minutes and no downtime is required for this filler. Voluma® can last up to 2 years.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER

There is no downtime required following your Botox treatment or dermal filler injections. Some patients may choose to lie down or relax for an hour after their treatment, but you should be able to resume your normal activities right away. There may be some redness and a little bit of swelling around the injection sites, but these issues should be mild and will subside quickly.

RESULTS

It will take some time to see the full results of your Botox treatment. Results will develop over several weeks and should last for around three months or so. Once your results begin to fade, you can come in to receive another round of Botox injections to help maintain the results provided.

Dermal fillers provide instant results as the products themselves instantly add volume to the treated area. Results will continue to improve over time. The length of your dermal filler results will vary based on the type of product used.
